On the afternoon of June 22, 2022, with lotus blossoms in full bloom, a gentle breeze, and light clouds in the sky—on this sunny summer day following a storm—Sihui Kangrong was deeply honored to welcome leaders from the Sihui Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, the Jianggu Town Government, and other relevant agencies, as well as deans and professors from Guangdong University of Technology, to attend the plaque-unveiling ceremony for the “Joint Innovation Laboratory”—a strategic collaboration between Sihui Kangrong New Materials Co., Ltd. and Guangdong University of Technology. Director Gu Caifen, the emcee, formally introduced the leaders in attendance at today’s ceremony and welcomed them with a warm round of applause, expressing gratitude for their presence.
First, Mr. Xue Xirong, Chairman of Kangrong High-Tech, outlined the development plan for this “Joint Innovation Laboratory.” He emphasized that the purpose and significance of establishing this university-industry joint innovation laboratory is to respond to national policies aimed at accelerating in-depth collaboration among industry, academia, and research, and to build a platform for Guangdong University of Technology and Kangrong to share resources, complement each other’s strengths, and achieve mutual development. The Joint Innovation Laboratory integrates Guangdong University of Technology’s educational resources and research achievements with Kangrong’s capabilities in the commercialization and industrialization of intellectual property. It also brings together the university’s R&D and innovation talent with Kangrong’s hands-on professionals. This initiative supports the university’s disciplinary development and talent cultivation while also helping Kangrong achieve technological innovation and enhance its competitiveness. Chairman Xue outlined the future blueprint for the Joint Innovation Laboratory in detail: 1. Combine the theoretical knowledge from GUT’s various disciplines with Kangrong’s practical experience to achieve a synergistic effect. By fully leveraging Kangrong’s equipment, production, and financial resources, the laboratory will develop programs to enhance the knowledge, skills, and overall competence of students and corporate employees. Under the guidance of Kangrong’s core business personnel at the Joint Innovation Laboratory, GUT students will rapidly acquire the capabilities required to meet the company’s practical R&D, innovation, and production needs; Kangrong employees will use GUT’s educational resources to update their knowledge and skills and continuously enhance their professional competence. 2. Integrate the research and innovation of new materials, technologies, and products relevant to both GUT and Kangrong’s business operations to facilitate the commercialization of research outcomes and the extraction of practical experience. Strengthen exchanges and collaboration between GUT faculty and students and Kangrong High-Tech’s core business personnel to delve deeper into theory, gain market insights, and broaden perspectives.
Professor Xie Guangqiang, Executive Vice Dean of the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Guangdong University of Technology, noted in his remarks: “Last November, our university established a comprehensive partnership with Sihui Kangrong in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship talent development and technological innovation, and successfully hosted the ‘Kangrong Cup University-Enterprise Joint Innovation Competition.’ More than 40 innovation teams and over 200 faculty members and students participated in the competition, which generated a positive response on campus. It also provided faculty and students with a comprehensive understanding of Kangrong’s technology, culture, and development plans, and led to the proposal of numerous technical solutions and achievements for the company’s future development. We hope to build on the outcomes of the competition by deepening them through mini-projects and transforming them into our own achievements, thereby cultivating talent through practical experience and fulfilling the original intent and goals of our collaboration. We aim to provide technical support for Chairman Xue’s initiative of “transformation and upgrading, shifting to new tracks,” and to enhance the market competitiveness of innovative products. Guangdong University of Technology will encourage more professors and outstanding students to engage with Kangrong, further deepening the company’s path in technological innovation, talent development, and technical collaboration. Professor Wang Changhong, a doctoral advisor at the School of Materials and Energy at Guangdong University of Technology, stated: “The partnership between Guangdong University of Technology and Guangdong Kangrong High-Tech’s Sihui production base is not only a collaboration between two strong entities, but also one that fosters mutual benefit and complements each other’s strengths.” Chairman Xue has proposed a transition toward the new energy sector. We must integrate Kangrong’s needs with the research achievements of Guangdong University of Technology to develop new products and high-value-added offerings.
